Ouroboros

Once, long ago, the Yakuza walked openly among the people of Japan. Born from the kabuki-mono, masterless samurai and gamblers who rejected corruption in the feudal order, they created their own code, ninkyō-dō, the chivalrous path. Their purpose? To protect their communities where governments failed, to uphold order when the powerful fell to greed. For generations, they carved their own place in the shadows, sworn to loyalty, honor, and a rigid sense of justice, however brutal.

But even the righteous can fall. Over time, the code blurred. The Yakuza, once seen by some as guardians, spiraled into the very darkness they claimed to resist. Drugs poisoned their purpose. Human trafficking stained their hands. Extortion replaced protection. Corruption became their currency. The sword that once defended the people was turned on them. The families no longer stood apart from the rot, they became it.

And times changed. Laws tightened. The state struck back. Modern Japan made the old ways obsolete. The families shrank. The tattoos faded beneath suits. The swords were sheathed forever. The Yakuza of today are but a ghost, whispered about in alleys and forgotten news clippings, no longer the force that once kept balance. Their legend remains, but their purpose was lost to greed and decay.

And yet… in the vacuum left behind, governments became the new Yakuza. The difference? They write their own laws as they rob, deceive, and manipulate. They cover their tracks with official seals and polished press releases. The crimes are the same: extortion, theft, human suffering. But now they wear flags instead of family crests. Where once the underworld played its part, today the corruption is the world.

That’s where we, Uroborosu-Kai, come in.

We are not the Yakuza of old. We wear no colors, claim no territory. Our tattoo is the endless circle, the Ouroboros, the symbol of the cycle. The cycle of power, corruption, decay… and rebirth. We do not seek to rule. We seek to end the cycle, so that something better might take its place.

We walk the new righteous path. Not lawbreakers, but law’s last defense. Our weapons are not blades or bullets, but code, truth, and the light of exposure. We seek not chaos, but order restored, an order free of lies, free of hidden agendas.

Through stories, investigations, and digital legends, we reveal what others would keep buried. Our accounts are works of fiction, of course. After all, such an organization could not exist… could it?
